Red Cabbage


Ingredients:

2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion

2 large apples peeled, quartered

1 large red cabbage,quartered, stem removed, thinly sliced

To taste salt and pepper

2 tablespoons of sugar

2 bay leaves

3 whole cloves

1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar

1 cup water

Directions:

Heat oil, add cabbage and toss in the hot oil lightly

Take whole onion, cut two slots into the onion, insert bay leaves, place cloves into same onion, and add to cabbage

Add apple slices, 1 cup water and seasonings, stir, cover, simmer until cabbage is tender, 20 to 30 minutes.

Remove onions. Apple slices will bind with the cabbage.

Adjust seasoning to taste
